What To Expect When Getting Started With Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy
The First Visit
Upon the first visit, a comprehensive medical history will be reviewed and a physical examination will be performed by the practitioner. Appropriate investigations will be organized based on these findings. Patients will also meet their Patient Care Coordinator to ensure that they have an understanding of their test results and exams. Patients can expect to be at the clinic for a little over an hour.
Once all of the testing has been completed, the results will be reviewed and a plan will be formulated to include treatments and the involvement of members of the integrative health team that will be of benefit to the patient. Each member of the team is a hormone specialist within their field, and each specialist addresses various aspects of a hormonal imbalance. This general plan will be discussed with the patient, and appointments with each recommended expert will be made to suit the patient’s schedule.
The Second Visit
At this second visit, the practitioner will review all of the test results in detail so that patients have an understanding of their particular hormonal imbalance. An individualized treatment plan will be formulated and tailored to meet specific needs. Patients will meet with their Patient Care Coordinator who will help them summarize and implement their treatment program. In addition, patients will receive their investigation results, as well as scientific papers supporting the treatment plan for a hormonal issue.
The Third & Fourth Visits
A follow-up appointment is typical every 3-4 months to review progress and make any necessary adjustments to a treatment plan. Of course, should patients need to see any of the practitioners sooner then they can simply email or call the clinic and make an appointment. Between appointments patients will have direct access to a Patient Care Coordinator via email or phone to help resolve any questions and to determine the need for additional visits.
